Make Great Footprints for Family Promise
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”
– Lao Tzu
Family Promise is committed to helping families facing homelessness throughout Monroe County. Through the program and as fast as possible, families are moved into safety and provided with hot healthy food. A Case Manager works with each family to plan their rapid return to independent housing. Family Promise also helps to secure services, such as: securing housing, employment, job training, and entitlements. They also assist families with social service needs, referring them to other organizations as appropriate; and advocate with agencies on their behalf.
Because of their unique approach of teaming with local congregations, there is no time limit on how long a family can remain in the Family Promise shelter program. However, on average, families return to independent housing in about 80 days. Friendship and follow-up for at least a year enables Family Promise to insure each family’s return to independent living is permanent.
Please join them to leave some great footprints by joining Family Promise of Monroe County on March 4th for their 8th annual “Footsteps for Families” 3K Walk-a-Thon at the Stroud Mall.
