There is a privilege of knowledge which comes with being a local in the Pocono Mountains. After all, locals are given the luxury of having years to see past all-too-shiny, tourist-grabbing gimmicks and find the establishments that offer tangible uniqueness and consistent quality. We know, for example, where to find hidden natural alcoves, deceptively quaint restaurants that dazzle diners, and boutiques which offer friendly service and unique gifts.

As a local returning to the area from an urban life, Ali Schratt knew some of these “local secrets”, and she saw the areas need for an informative guide with a savvy, creative edge. It was with this realization, and a desire to give locals a refreshing view of the Poconos, that Ali used her background in art and design to create Local Flair Magazine in 2005.

Four years later, our full-color, bimonthly publication continues to embody the beauty of life in Northeast Pennsylvania within our pages. Each issue of Local Flair highlighting the efforts of community business owners and members; striving to inspire residents and visitors to choose exceptional local purveyors of goods and services more often than not.
